22 Aug Actor Douglas Taurel Honors Veterans in his Award-Nominated Off Broadway Play, The American Soldier, at the Beach-Schmidt Performing Arts Center at Fort Hays State University on September 8th
Let’s not only talk about the shiny part of war. Let’s remember there is deep price that our veterans and families pay.
I will be honoring Veterans in my Award-Nominated Off Broadway Play, The American Soldier, at the Beach-Schmidt Performing Arts Center at Fort Hays State University on September 8th at 7pm.
WHAT: Douglas Taurel performs The America Soldier, a one-man show based on actual letters written by veterans and their family members from the Revolutionary war through the current Afghanistan conflict. It honors the experiences of veterans and their families, and explores the internal struggles they face when returning home from combat. The event is sponsored by the FHSU Veterans Association and Vietnam Veterans of America.
The American Soldier has been nominated for the Amnesty International Award, performed Off Broadway, received 4 stars internationally, been featured in The Huffington Post, The Washington Post and Time Out to name a few and was performed at The Kennedy Center during inauguration weekend. Taurel will close the year out with a performance in Washington, D.C. for the Library of Congress on Veterans Day and a special performance for members of the U.S. Congress in December.
WHO: Taurel’s television and film credits include “Mr. Robot,” “The Americans,” “Blue Bloods,” “Person of Interest,” “The Following,” “Damages,” “Nurse Jackie,” The Cobbler (starring Adam Sandler and Dustin Hoffman) and the upcoming The Kindergarten Teacher (starring Maggie Gyllenhall).

Tickets are $10 at the door. *There is no charge for veterans.
